For years, Mike had the idea in the back of his mind. Build a tea company that did things properly. No gimmicks. No cutting corners. Just quality tea, blended with care, that people would genuinely enjoy drinking every day. Josh shared the same outlook. If you’re going to do something, do it right. Put your name to it. Stand by it.
One night in our local, Heft, the idea stopped being “one day” and became “why not now?”. We talked through the risks, the unknowns, and the fact we didn’t have a roadmap. And then it hit us:
“What’s the worst that can happen? We’ll just have a lifetime of tea to drink if it doesn’t work!”
By the end of that night, Lake District Tea Co. was born.
We didn’t have all the answers and truthfully, we’re still learning every day. But what we’ve always had is belief. Belief in quality. Belief in hard work. Belief in building something that reflects where we’re from.
Being from the Lake District means something to us. It’s about resilience, honesty, and taking pride in what you produce. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to with every blend. Sourcing proper leaves, working with trusted growers, and refining until it’s right.
This isn’t a corporate story. It’s two mates from the Lake District who decided to back themselves.
